How to Carefully Check a Used Car for Sale for Defects

If you are looking forward to buying a used car for sale in Missouri then you should know how to check if it is still okay for you to that specific car. Here is a simple list of things which you would need to check to see if a car is still worth buying.

External Damage – this is the very first thing that you may look for. Just by looking around the car you can immediately see if the car has a crash history or has already under gone a body repair.

Paint – if there are scratches, air bubbles, worn out paint or even rust, you might need to have them repainted and it will cost you a few hundred dollars to get the whole car repainted. It is not that serious though, just ask the dealer to take it off the price or ask for a discount for it.

Mileage – if the car is well maintained then it is okay to have a high mileage. But if the car is a bit over used; then the clutch, acceleration and brake pedals should tell you the story. If the pedals are new then they may have been replaced to make the car look presentable.

Tires and wheels – don’t forget to check them as well. Make sure that they are all of the same type and make. Different tyres may mean that it has gone through a driver who has problems with curbs and bumps. It may result to a damaged axle or suspension. If the tires are worn out evenly then it goes to show that the wheels are aligned properly but if they are unevenly worn out then you might need to have them aligned.

Engine – the engine is the heart of the car, thus it is very important that you check if the engine is running. It does not make sense if you buy a car that does not run. Not unless if you are going to salvage parts from it or planning to do a restoration project on it.

Suspensions and shock absorbers – these things cost a lot, so you better pay attention to them as well. Broken suspension or shock absorbers usually causes accidents and you do not want to get into one. So make sure that they are okay. If not then roll it on the total price of the car.

The last thing that you would like is to see if the card has water damage, if it has been soaked or flooded then turn away immediately and look for another vehicle. You do not want to buy that car. If you have all this in mind then you are assured that you’ll get a good car, aside from that everything should be minor.
